Jacques Delors

Jacques Delors (1925- ) is a French politician who has served as the President of the European Commission. He worked at the Bank of France, was a professor at the University of Paris, and a Member of the European Parliament. From 1969 to 1972, he was an advisor to the Gaullist French Prime Minister Jacques Chaban-Delmas. He later joined the Socialist Party. In 1981, he became the Minister of Finance under President François Mitterrand. Delors is one of the pioneers of the European integration plan. He is a notable economist with modernizing tendencies. He continuously works and has gained significant prestige, influence, and power. From 1985 to 1995, he served as the President of the European Commission.
