Georgios Kontogiorgis

Emeritus Professor George Kontogiorgis was born in 1947 in Nydri, Lefkada. He studied law at the University of Athens and political science in Paris, where he earned his Doctorat d'État. He served as the rector of Panteion University, director of Research at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), and for many years as a visiting professor at the Institute of Political Studies (IEP) in Paris. He held the Francqui Chair at the Free University of Brussels, was a member of the High Council of Research at the European University Institute in Florence, and acted as an expert on university matters for the European Union. He is a founding member of the European Political Science Network (EPSNET) and the Hellenic Political Science Association. Professor Kontogiorgis has taught as a visiting professor at numerous foreign universities, and his works have been published in many countries. He is a member of the scientific council and a professor in the Master's program in European Studies at the University of Siena, and a corresponding member of the International Academy of Culture of Portugal.
