
Georgios M. Korres
Georgios Korres is a visiting professor at the University of Newcastle (Centre of Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS)) and also teaches as an Associate Professor at the University of the Aegean, in the Department of Geography, and in the Master's program in Cultural Unit Management (Cultural Economy) at the Hellenic Open University. In the past, he has collaborated with the University of Piraeus, University of Thessaly, University of Patras, Panteion University, the Hellenic Open University, the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH), the University of London, and Saarland University. He graduated from the Department of Economics at the University of Piraeus and pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Essex (England), where he obtained a Master of Arts degree. He continued his postgraduate studies at the University of London (Queen Mary and Westfield College) for a Ph.D. in Economic Science. His postgraduate studies for his Master's and Doctoral degrees were funded by scholarships from the EU and the State Scholarships Foundation, respectively. His scientific interests lie in the fields of investment, industrial organization, economic development, economic policy, and economic theory, where he has published numerous studies, approximately 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles, as well as six books in English with publishers such as MacMillan-Palgrave Press, Springer, Edward & Elgar, Ashgate Publishers, etc. He also participates in many scientific committees as a reviewer for international journals and is the editor of the Journal of Regional Socio-Economic Issues.
