Dimitrios K. Velissaropoulos

Dimitris K. Velissaropoulos was born in 1920 in Varna, Bulgaria. Due to the lack of Greek schools in the area, he attended the French colleges St. Michel and St. Augustin in Varna and Plovdiv, respectively, from the first grade of primary school until obtaining his Baccalaureate. He is a graduate of the Law School of the University of Athens. After completing a five-year military service, he joined the diplomatic corps of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1951. He served in New York, Sofia, New Delhi, Paris, Geneva, Beijing, Ottawa, and Bern, where he concluded his career in 1986. While stationed in Beijing, he made periodic visits to Vietnam, where he was also concurrently accredited.
