Stayros Lygeros

Stavros Lygeros was born in Athens in 1953. He holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Athens and attended postgraduate seminars in international relations and international economics at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes in Paris. He was a member of the Coordinating Committee during the Polytechnic uprising in November 1973. He is a co-founder and member of the editorial team of the magazine "Tetradia Politikou Dialogou Erevnas kai Kritikis," which has been published since 1980 (Stochastis Editions). He is the author of several books, including "Student Movement and Class Struggle in Greece" (1977, 2 volumes, Stochastis Editions), "PASOK, the Syndrome of the Great Patient" (1990, Stochastis Editions), "Skopje, the Thorn of the Balkans" (1992, Livani Editions), "Winds of War in the Balkans" (1992, Livani Editions), "Cyprus: On the Brink of Extinction" (1993, Livani Editions), "The Game of Power" (1996, Livani Editions), "In the Name of Macedonia: The Diplomatic War for the Name" (2008, Livani Editions), and "Crusaders Without a Cross: Islamic Terrorism, the USA, and Neo-Ottomanism" (2010, Livani Editions). He has also authored dozens of major articles and studies on Greek-Turkish relations, Turkey, the Cyprus issue, the Balkans, Europe, Greek-American relations, and domestic political issues. He has worked as a parliamentary correspondent (Thessaloniki newspaper) and as a political-diplomatic commentator for magazines such as "Anti," "Defense and Diplomacy," and newspapers like "Pontiki," "Eleftherotypia," "Proti," "Epikairotita," "Ependytis," "Exousia," "Axia," as well as for radio stations Kanal 15, Skai, Antenna, Planet, and Kanal 1 of Piraeus. From 1989 to 2012, he worked at "Kathimerini." Currently, he works at the newspaper Proto Thema, the magazine Epikaira, and as a commentator for the radio station Parapolitika FM.
