
Paylos Kastanas
Pavlos Kastanas was born in Athens in 1982. He studied Physics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and then completed postgraduate studies in Astrophysics at Queen Mary University of London, where he graduated with distinction. For several years, he has worked in private higher education as an associate lecturer at the University of Derby, teaching undergraduate courses in the sciences. He has also taught Physics and Chemistry at the secondary education level and has designed a complete series of Astronomy courses for children. As part of his science communication efforts, he has organized dozens of events throughout Greece and has given numerous talks and educational activities related to space. In 2017, he created the online Astrophysics channel "Astronio," which has surpassed 45 million views and 330,000 subscribers. For his contribution to science outreach, he has received the "EPI2" and "Science Outreach Award" science communication awards.
