Jules Verne

Jules Verne, the great French author and one of the pioneers of modern science fiction, was born in Nantes on February 8, 1828. Although he studied law, he dedicated most of his time to writing. He began his career as a playwright, albeit without much success. His name became known in 1863 with the release of his work "Five Weeks in a Balloon." Later, he published "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1864), "From the Earth to the Moon" (1865), "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1870), "Around the World in 80 Days" (1873), "Michael Strogoff" (1876), and a plethora of other works collectively known as "The Extraordinary Voyages," which made Verne famous and beloved worldwide. With his innate gift for storytelling, his humor, his scientific inventions (he predicted the submarine, the airplane, television, space travel, and other remarkable achievements of our time), and his love for scientific progress, Verne captivated both young and old. In 1872, he retired to Amiens, where he passed away on March 24, 1905. His works have been translated into almost every language in the world, and today, so many years after his death, they continue to be read with the same love and enthusiasm.
