Dimitris Kougioumtzoglou was born in 1974 in Kavala. He studied in the Department of History and Archaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in archaeology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, actively participating in excavations in Northern Greece as a trainee student and as a contracted archaeologist. He was appointed to secondary education as a philology teacher in a high school through the ASEP examinations. During his five-year secondment in Moscow, he taught Greek language and culture at Lomonosov University and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, at the Hellenic Cultural Center, and the Greek Society of Moscow, while also delivering a series of public lectures on the history and culture of Greece with an emphasis on Macedonia (some of which are accessible at: http://www.hecucenter.ru/old/gr/archeology.htm). He has participated with presentations in conferences, seminars, and workshops of archaeological, historical, and educational nature and has published articles and studies on historical, archaeological, and educational topics in proceedings, educational websites (www.fryktories.gr, http://sfkavala.blogspot.gr/), newspapers, and magazines. He is a certified tour guide from the Thessaloniki School of Tour Guides.
