Ted Hughes

Edward James Hughes, known as Ted Hughes, was an English poet and writer. He is considered one of the best poets of his generation. He was married to the American poet Sylvia Plath from 1956 to 1963. His first book, "The Hawk in the Rain," was published in 1957, and since then, he released numerous volumes of poetry and prose, earning many awards. His final poetry book, "Birthday Letters" (1998), explores his complex relationship with Sylvia Plath. He was appointed Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom (with the duty of composing poems for national events) in December 1984.
