Dimitrios P. Balios is an Assistant Professor of Financial Accounting at the Department of Economics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He studied economics at the corresponding department of NKUA, where he also received his Ph.D. in 2006. Dr. Dimitrios Balios has worked as a researcher on various research projects at NKUA and the University of Piraeus and has served as head of analysis departments for stock exchange member companies of the Athens Stock Exchange. He has taught undergraduate courses at the Department of Economics at NKUA and the Department of Economic Science at the University of Piraeus, as well as postgraduate courses at the Hellenic Open University, the Open University of Cyprus, the National Technical University of Athens, and the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences. The subjects he has taught include Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and specialized topics in Accounting and Finance. Additionally, he has lectured in various corporate training programs, primarily for banks. Dr. Dimitrios Balios is also the academic supervisor of the Internship Program of the Department of Economics at NKUA and a member of the Governing Committee of the Postgraduate Program in Management and Administration of Economic Units and Organizations (MAMEUO) with a focus on Accounting at the same university. Finally, his research interests are related to the application of International Financial Reporting Standards, the quality of accounting information, the analysis of financial statements, and the development of credit rating models based on accounting information. His articles have been published in various international scientific journals.
