Eleni Mpeteinaki

She was born in a small town in Heraklion, Archanes, and spent her childhood there, surrounded by "grandmothers" who told her many stories and fairy tales. She always wanted to remain a child, so she studied to become a Kindergarten Teacher, successfully combining her love for children and fairy tales in the best possible way. For about 20 years now, she has been working as a kindergarten teacher and is involved in organizing events related to books, especially children's books. She has hosted several programs on ERA Heraklion focusing on fairy tales, under the title: "Once Upon a Time and... Twice Upon a Time." She has a deep love for History and Folklore, and many of her articles are published in local newspapers and news websites such as Cretalive.gr and ThinkFree.gr. She maintains the column "Saturday's Fairy Tales," featuring presentations and opinions on children's books in the aforementioned print and online media, and frequently narrates stories and fairy tales in venues and bookstores in her city. In 2015, she was awarded the "Voula Kouloumpi" Prize for Kindergarten Teachers by IBBY, the "Circle of the Greek Children's Book," for introducing preschool children to the world of children's literature in the most imaginative ways.
