Andrzej Sapkowski

Andrzej Sapkowski, often referred to as the "Polish Tolkien" with a mix of awkward admiration by critics, was born in Łódź in 1948. He studied economics and worked in the field of foreign trade. In 1986, he made his debut in the realm of fantasy literature by publishing the short story "The Witcher" in the reputable magazine "Fantastyka." This story marked the beginning of a series of novels centered around the adventures of the white-haired monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia. From the very first volume of the series, "The Last Wish," Sapkowski's unique saga established itself among the top international bestsellers and has earned its creator numerous awards, including the prestigious David Gemmell Legend Award.
