Loukas Tsoukalis

Loukas Tsoukalis was born in Athens in 1950. He studied at the University of Manchester, the College of Europe in Bruges, and received his doctoral degree from the University of Oxford. He has taught for many years at universities abroad, including Oxford, the European Institute of the London School of Economics (LSE), and the College of Europe. Currently, he is a Professor of European Organization at the Jean Monnet Chair of the University of Athens and the President of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP). He has also served as the Chairman and Director of the Hellenic Centre for European Studies (EKEM) and as an ambassador and special advisor to the Prime Minister on European issues. He has an extensive body of written work, which has been translated into various European languages, and is actively involved in both the political and economic spheres. Among his books are "The New European Economy," 1997, and "What Kind of Europe?," 2004.
