Sofia Filippidou

Sophia Filippidou was born in Thessaloniki and resides in Exarchia. She is a beloved Greek actress and theater director. She has collaborated with television and cinema, and her name is associated with major theatrical and television successes. She studied Theater at the Drama School of the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki and German Philology at Aristotle University. She pursued postgraduate studies for a year in the Department of Dramaturgy at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Thessaloniki under the guidance of theater scholar Nikiforos Papandreou. For eight years, she worked alongside her theater career as a German language instructor at the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, from which she eventually resigned. She was a member of the "Art" Theater Workshop (1972 - 1979) and the "Art" Experimental Stage (1980 - 1985). Her first theater appearance was in 1972, playing the role of "Marianthi" in the play "Fausta" by Bost, staged by the "Art" Theater Workshop. In 1997, she revisited this work, this time portraying "Fausta" at the New Stage of the National Theatre. In 1985, she moved to Athens and collaborated with major urban theaters to stage classical works, revues, and musical performances
