Kostas E. Douzinas

Kostas Douzinas holds a degree from the Law School of the University of Athens and a Ph.D. from the Law Department of the London School of Economics. He is a Professor of Law and Dean of the School of Humanities and Arts at Birkbeck College, University of London. He has taught at Middlesex and Lancaster Universities and was a founding member of the Law School at Birkbeck College in 1992. He served as the School's President from 1996 to 2002 and was the head of the presidents of all Law Schools at the University of London during 1999-2000. Kostas Douzinas has been a visiting professor at the University of Athens, Paris, Thessaloniki, and Prague, the European University Institute in Florence, Cardozo Law School, Griffith University, and Peking University. He is the editor of the academic journal "Law and Critique: International Journal of Critical Legal Thought." His major works include "Postmodern Jurisprudence," "Justice Miscarried," "The Legality of the Contingent," "Ο λόγος του νόμου," "Law and the Image," "Critical Jurisprudence," "Human Rights and Empire," and "Adieu Derrida" (2006). His work has been translated into twelve languages.
