Jean-Paul Fitoussi

Jean-Paul Fitoussi was born in 1942 in La Goulette, Tunisia. He is one of the most prominent representatives of the French Keynesian school. Holding a doctorate in economics from the University of Strasbourg and an agrégé in economics, he is an emeritus professor at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris and the Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome, and a member of the Center on Capitalism and Society at Columbia University in New York. He has also taught at the University of Strasbourg (where he is an honorary dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences), the European University Institute in Florence, and as a visiting professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He served as president of the French Economic Observatory (OFCE). He has been honored with the Pico della Mirandola Prize (2017) and, along with Joseph Stiglitz and Amartya Sen, the Gold Medal of the Society for Progress (2016). He is an honorary doctor of the Universities of Buenos Aires and Tres de Febrero, and an honorary professor at the University of Trento.
