Ilias Mosialos

Elias Mossialos is a Professor of Health Policy and Director of the LSE Health Centre at the London School of Economics. His research focuses on health policies related to national health systems. His books have been translated into Japanese, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish. In 1998, he co-founded the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, a significant research center for analyzing health system reforms of the World Health Organization, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, and the governments of Belgium, Finland, Norway, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden. He currently co-directs the Observatory. He is an honorary director of Public Health at the Health Strategy Authority of the National Health System of Southwest London. He is an honorary professor at the University of Copenhagen, the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and the National School of Public Health in France. He oversees the Cambridge University Press publications on Health Economics, Policy, and Management. He is the editor-in-chief of the scientific journal "Health Economics, Policy and Law" published by Cambridge University Press. He has actively participated in public dialogue as an advisor to the World Health Organization, the European Parliament, the European Commission, the World Bank, and the Ministries of Health and Social Affairs of Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, Cyprus, Finland, France, Ireland, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, and Sweden. He served on the board of the European Medicines Agency (2000-2003). In 2000 and 2007, he was awarded by the European Health Management Association for the best publication on health policy and management in Europe.
